Technically it died nearly 5 years ago, back in 2019, after the single week the original Twitter bot was active for. But somehow, people managed to drag its corpse along for another year or so, turning it into the very thing it was meant to mock and be a parody of.
This URL used to be home to a web version, which was based largely on the same code the bot used for generating the videos. This code was not very good. It's prone to creating stale ffmpeg processes that can result in OOMs, it used a weird stream-based flow that was prone to failure, and it was in general a broken mess.
I do not intend to fix it. I have not cared about this_vid2 in years, it was an experiment that went horribly wrong. I left Twitter (or, as it's called now, X) back in 2022 and could not care less about the projects I did for that site or the current state of the developer ecosystem on there. Even still, this_vid2 specifically is a project I despise for many reasons.
It's gone now. I believe the world is a better place without it. The server that sent you this HTML file couldn't be happier.
